Samuel Mellert

I am a mobile developer from Karlsruhe, Germany, building apps for iPhone and iPad since 2012 – and these days for Android and with Kotlin Multiplatform, too. Here you get an impression of what I do for work and what else keeps me busy.

About

I started out with a cooperative degree in business informatics, building Java back ends for WEB.DE and GMX at 1&1. In 2012 I switched to iOS development and stayed. Today I build apps with Kotlin Multiplatform at DUX Healthcare.

I care about clean architecture, reliable releases and apps that feel right. I spoke and ran workshops at MobileTech Conference several times.

Away from code I ride my bike, take photos and listen to podcasts – from politics to spaceflight.

My counterbalance to the desk: getting out on the bike.

Podcasts

I listen to a lot of podcasts – mostly on these topics:

  • Politics
  • Renewable energy
  • Electric mobility
  • Spaceflight
  • Technology
  • History
  • Food

In the past

I used to spend time in the air and on the water, too: gliding and white-water kayaking.

Photography

Most of these photos were taken during my 2019/2020 sabbatical in Southeast Asia – at markets, at temples and from above with a drone.

  • Vegetable fields in fine stripes, from above
  • Laughing market woman with a straw hat
  • Young macaque on a wall
