Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is Samuel Mellert (see above for address and contact).
This website uses no cookies, no tracking and no analytics tools. Fonts and images are served from my own server; no third-party content is embedded.
Hosting
The website and the associated mail server run on a server I manage myself, rented from Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The server is located in a data centre in Germany. Hetzner acts as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR).
Server logs
When you visit the website, the server processes technically necessary data such as IP address, time, requested URL and browser identifier in order to deliver the site.
Only failed requests are logged, such as pages not found or server errors – with IP address, time, requested URL, status code, referring page and browser identifier. The logs are rotated by size: once they reach 30 MB, the oldest entries are deleted automatically.
The legal basis is my legitimate interest in operating the website securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
If you email me, I process your email address and the content of your message solely to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or (b) for enquiries about a contract). The messages are stored on my own mail server (see Hosting) and deleted once they are no longer needed for this purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
The mail server logs connection data such as the IP address of the delivering server; these logs are rotated by size as well (30 MB at most).
Storage in your browser
If you change the colour scheme (light or dark) yourself, your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage) so that it is kept for your next visit. This information never leaves your device; choosing “System” or using your browser settings removes it again. This storage is necessary for the function you requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20).
Right to object: where processing is based on my legitimate interest, you may object to it at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg.
